Guide for Reporting/Paying General Income Tax

What is general income tax?

General income tax refers to the tax that you pay for your annual income.
It incorporates tax for a total of six income types— employment, business, interest, annuity income, and other income.

When do you report and pay general income tax?

If you have a certain amount of general income within the taxation period of the said year,
you must report and pay general income tax the next year from May 1 to May 31 (June 30 for those who submitted a honest tax report).

Eligibility for payment

If you are not sure whether you should pay general income tax or not,

How to report general income tax

There are three ways you can report general income tax— electronic report through Home Tax, visiting a competent tax office, and ARS call report.

Please refer to https://www.hometax.go.kr/.

[Visiting a competent tax office]
Visit the office with necessary documents such as your ID and supporting documents for Simplified Yearend Tax Settlement.
3.
[ARS call report]
Make a call to 1544-9944.

How to pay general income tax

Once you have reported general income tax, you need to make a payment.
You can pay general income tax in two ways.
1.
[Electronic payment]
As for reporting general income tax, you can pay it through the National Tax Service Home Tax website.
2.
[Visit to relevant institutions]
You can make a visit to a nearby financial institution, competent tax office, or a local government under the jurisdiction of the taxpayer to pay general income tax.
Please take the payment slip issued after reporting general income tax with you.
